Registered Yoga Teachers

Yoga Alliance registers yoga teachers who have met specific training standards and lists those teachers on its website.  Recognition as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) is granted at 200-hour and 500-hour levels, and may be earned by instructors through independent study or by completion of a program at a school registered by Yoga Alliance.  There are currently more than 100 registered teacher training programs nationwide that meet our standards.

Serving the Yoga Practicing Public

The demand for yoga instruction has grown tremendously in recent years due to growing awareness of the many physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga and meditation.  Yoga students are seeking the full range of mind-body benefits that yoga offers.

As an organization offering yoga to the public, you want instructors who possess a sufficiently broad knowledge of yoga technique and theory so the needs and expectations of your students, clients or patients will be met.  We realize that it can be very difficult for an employer to accurately assess the level of training of potential instructors with the vast number of yoga schools and certificate programs now available.

Yoga Alliance’s Registered Yoga Teacher registry can help you choose a yoga teacher with adequate training and help assure the safety and satisfaction of your students.  This national service is not affiliated with a specific school of yoga.
